Woodpecker

Because we woodpeckers love to search for small insects and maggots in tree trunks by tapping the bark with our beak and loosening it, Ostheimer gave us a wonderful landing spot on their tall fir tree. We Ostheimer woodpeckers have a red cap and beautiful black-and-white plumage.
Original Ostheimer figures are manufactured purely by hand and colored with selected paints. We create our products with great care and use only certified materials. That way, you are guaranteed safe, high quality children's toys. Each of our products is a unique piece that has been crafted with love. Our figures encourage children's lively, imaginative and open-ended play.

Ostheimer birds

Margarete Ostheimer had originally captured the bird world in three birds of paradise, which served as colorful archetypes. When Stephan Zech took over the design, he soon decided to add several birds native to Central Europe to the Ostheimer collection. Not only because these birds are dear and familiar to him, but also because he thought it was important that children develop a relationship to these small, delicate, so enriching inhabitants of nature. In his designs, he captured the most important characteristics of each bird to make them recognizable and reflect their character.

Why mostly Central European birds? Honestly, because we know them best and from our own experience.
